The PURPLE PATH art and sculpture trail is the most extensive project in the Capital of Culture region. It connects the 38 municipalities involved with each other and with the city of Chemnitz. By 2025, a unique exhibition of contemporary art in public space will be created with the works of national and international artists.

The conceptual artist Olaf Holzapfel created the sculpture "Two Woven into One Another", which was inaugurated on the Dittersdorfer Höhe in Amtsberg. The sculpture consists of a wooden tower approximately 14 meters high and is reminiscent of trigonometric towers that were used for surveying purposes in the history of Saxony.
