The Candia Mausoleum is a monumental tomb improperly rebuilt inside the ancient city in 1956, thanks to private funding. It was found in fragments in the locality of Roncolon, along the Roman road that led to Tergeste (Trieste).
Despite having been integrated with modern material, the mausoleum is an example of a large funerary monument from the Augustan age, belonging to an illustrious figure from Aquileia.
It consists of an enclosure, protected by two lions, and a high base decorated with reliefs and surmounted by a circular structure in the shape of a small temple, in which the statue of the deceased is placed, depicted while wearing a toga.
