Both the sower and the altar cross come from St. Mary's Church in Papenburg-Obenende, which was deconsecrated in 2020. The sower once adorned the travertine ambo and the built-in safe was removed from the former tabernacle (also called the altar cross).
*)Joseph Krautwald (*7.3.1914 in Borkendorf/ Silesia, +13.1.2003 in Rheine) is a well-known Polish sculptor. After a short apprenticeship as a sculptor, Krautwald attended the Bad Warmbrunn wood carving school with Cirillo Dell'Antonio and the sculpture class of Josef Thorak at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He completed his training in 1939 with Karl Albiker in Dresden. In 1949 he came to Rheine, where he set up his studio in 1951. Sacred art took up the most space in his extraordinarily extensive work. In 1982 he received the Culture Prize of the City of Rheine, in 1986 the Federal Cross of Merit and in 1997 the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
