Bald eagles have powerful toes, as well as grasping claws called talons.
What's the difference between a claw and a talon? Talons are designed to puncture and carry prey items. While claws are indeed sharp, they do not generally assist in carrying prey.
Talons are important tools while hunting. The back talon pierces, while the front talons are responsible for immobilizing prey.
