Little known white sandy beach on the lee shore inside the Bay, calmer than beaches on the coast with waves pounding in. Schoonmaker Beach is sheltered inside the protective walls of a marina, a fabulous spot without the long drive out to the coast.
This is an especially popular place for families with little kids, since the gentle Bay waters are perfect for shallow water play in the sand. Schoonmaker Beach is also a popular launch point for kayakers and paddle boarders, and you’ll sometimes hear it called Kayak Beach. Free parking, bathrooms, restaurants nearby.
