It was originally created as an "Italian" park. After the Czartoryskis took over the estate, it was transformed around 1768 according to the design of Franciszek Salezy Sarnowski and Aleksandra Ogińska into a sentimental park. In connection with the planned visit of King Stanisław Poniatowski to Siedlce in July 1783, many romantic and exotic objects were created in the park. The garden consisted of wildly growing forests, groves, flower beds, winding roads and canals with numerous islands. There were over thirty different buildings in it: the princess's houses, gazebos, bathrooms, a fisherman's cottage, a Turkish mosque, an orangery, a stable, a windmill.

The park was leased to private individuals in the 1840s, and a few years later it was transferred to the city. In the years 1869-1909, the City Park was surrounded by an iron fence on the south and west sides and a brick fence on the north side. The City Committee for the Promotion of Public Sobriety, established in 1900, ran a canteen and teahouse in the park, and also organized events in the park. World War II led to significant devastation of the park, the Nazi occupiers dismantled most of the existing buildings in the park, including the summer theater, restaurant and stage.

Today's park differs significantly from the original sentimental park. Occupying a much smaller area and deprived of its former layout, it is now a typical city park. The park still has trees over two hundred years old. Some of them have been recognized as natural monuments.
