The baroque water wheels and pumps were completely renovated around 1860. The impressive, now almost 150-year-old "new" water wheels and pumps of the water art of the Herrenhausen Gardens are an outstanding technical monument. They are still fully functional and today regulate the water level of the graft surrounding the Great Garden with line water. However, the entire facility was in need of renovation and could not be accessed or visited for years.
