A natural maze measuring 35 x 35 meters was created in 2002 by planting hornbeam. The inspiration was the work of Jan Amos Comenius "The Labyrinth of the World and the Paradise of the Heart", who lived in the city in the years 1622-25.
The skeleton of the labyrinth consists of a simplified drawing of the meridians and parallels of the globe. The destination of the journey is located in the center, i.e. "in the paradise of the heart", where there is a spiral stone staircase.
The monument from 1865 commemorates the stay of J.A. Komenský in Brandýs nad Orlicí. During the White Mountain period (1622-25) he hid here as a guest of Karel the Elder from Žerotín. During his stay here he wrote Labyrinth of the World and Paradise of the Heart.
