Michaelsberg is a mountain of witnesses upstream of the Stromberg ridge.

According to legend, Saint Boniface, in a battle against the devil, called on the Archangel Michael to help him with a golden angel's feather. Where the fight took place, a church was built. The spring was said to have miraculous healing powers and was a popular pilgrimage destination for centuries.

History:

Already to Celtic time existed on the Michaelsberg a sanctuary. Later, the Romans erected a luna temple on the spot.

First remains of a Carolingian chapel could be dated to the 8th century.

In the High Middle Ages (12th century), the castle Obermagenheim was built on the west side. On the eastern side of the Capuchin Order at that time built the present church. The castle was destroyed during the peasant wars in the 16th century.
