"The "Friesendom" is a sculpture for the victims of the past storm surges and a memorial for the constant threat to our coast from the sea. It forms a cross in plan, which is aligned to the four cardinal points (cloister). The bell (Die Friesin ) made of bronze in the center begins to ring at hurricane force winds and warns - as it has done for centuries - of the storm and the sea."
