It is definitely worth taking a look at the small Kreuzkapelle. Even if the dedication for the fallen fighters of the First World War is no longer entirely up-to-date, it can otherwise shine with beautiful paintings.

According to tradition, Empress Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine, went on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land (Israel / Palestine) in the fourth century and brought many relics with her to Europe, including the so-called "True Cross". Particles of the cross relic were an attractive pilgrimage destination in the Middle Ages.

Older than the little cross chapel is not a building in Kürten-Olpe. In the years between 1520 and 1527 their origins go back; at that time the chapel was planted on the north side of the new Olper church, for the purpose of keeping a relic of the wood of the cross of Christ. When the dilapidated church was demolished in 1896, the chapel was preserved.
