The Schützeberger Hof was founded in 1670 and used to be a paper mill. The operator was Michel Schürmann, a descendant of the papermaker Matthias Schuermann, who was summoned by the then lord of Malsburg from Lemgo. The high-quality paper was even sold to the royal family of Sweden. The family produced paper in the Schützeberger Hof until 1830, until industrial paper production became unprofitable. The Schützeberger Hof was then converted into a purely agricultural business.
The site is privately owned, but a detailed information board gives a good insight into the paper mill of the time.

He founded a paper mill on the Erpe near Elmarshausen Castle. His sons continued to run it and built up further businesses. His descendants practiced the craft until the 1830s.
