"Optimist" - a serial sculpture by Prof. Ottmar Hörl

The artist Ottmar Hörl has made it his mission with his projects to make art accessible to everyone.
From Dürer rabbits to garden gnomes to gold Madonnas, he presents his works on the street, in public places and spaces, where art and culture are openly and directly discussed.

Ottmar Hörl's art concept is based on the seriality and democratization of art itself. This becomes clear with his art project "Flashmob", in which he randomly and unexpectedly places the optimist's multiple in Wertheim. The idea is that everyone can take a figure with them or move it around, and so the optimist goes on his worldwide journey.
This project particularly highlights the temporary component of art.
Ottmar Hörl does not create eternal ideas, but refers to the constant development and change of art by society itself. The optimists appeared by chance and disappeared again, an opportunity for the artist to integrate society directly into his project and the possibility of initiating a discourse.
The optimist also poses another cultural question to the viewer with his figure:
do you have to think everything is good or always stay positive?
