The predecessor buildings of the Wolgast Town Hall were destroyed in city fires. The last destruction occurred in 1713 during the Great Northern War, when Russian troops burned Wolgast to the ground.
Reconstruction took place between 1718 and 1724, based on the footprint and incorporating remnants of the destroyed predecessor building. A council meeting was held in the building again as early as 1722. During this period, the Town Hall acquired its present appearance, with the exception of the lantern added in 1780.
