You can easily cycle from Austria to Slovakia or vice versa over the pretty Freedom Bicycle Bridge – with a beautiful view of the river.

The bridge opened in 2012 and is a powerful symbol of European freedom and the unification of countries. During the Cold War, the Morava River was part of the Iron Curtain at this point, making the crossing between Austria and what was then Czechoslovakia impossible. Today, the bridge connects the two countries and enables cross-border exchange amidst a scenically beautiful setting.

It is located in the Marchfeld region and the Danube-March-Thaya-Auen National Park, a protected landscape with great biodiversity. The bridge stands as a powerful symbol of the fall of the Iron Curtain. Where once an insurmountable border ran between Eastern and Western Europe, it now connects two countries and cultures. It is a popular spot for cycling tours in nature.
