The Sint-Martinuskerk was originally a Romanesque church from the 11th century. Due to various renovations in the 19th century, this church acquired a different appearance and a different style, namely sober neo-Gothic. The church is especially known for the heart of the "Lord of Beveren", Adolf of Burgundy, which is buried here. A copper plate in the high choir indicates this. In the past, people of nobility had their hearts buried in the place where they would have preferred to stay during their lives. They then had their bodies buried in the family cemetery or in their native region. Several other noblemen are buried under the church, but their gravestones disappeared during the flooring works in the 19th century. There are also valuable art treasures to be found, such as the baroque main altar, the pulpit and the wood carvings in the choir section.
