Perhaps the widest cycle path in the Netherlands ... or the world? The runway of the old Soesterberg airbase is open to cyclists. Great place to ride your bike. It's a strange place above all. Never ridden my bike on an airstrip before but it's awesome. Great for sprinting or just having fun on your bike. Enough room for everybody. The runway is closed of during breeding season of local birds though. All year through there is however the Military museum here also, with not only lots of tanks and military jets, but also a nice cafe to stop for a cup of coffee.

The former Soesterberg airport becomes a park and nature reserve. You can cycle over the old runways of the F16s.
Unfortunately it was now closed due to the breeding season of the larks.

After all, it is special to cycle on the runway of Soesterberg Air Base. The course is closed during the breeding season. It is also open to the public. Nice wide stretch of asphalt for racing.

Outside the breeding season you can cycle on the old runway here, which is a special experience. The military museum is also located here, which is definitely a must to visit.
