From September 15, 2024, stamp station 17 of the hiking treasures of the Wild Homeland will be located on the Panoramaweg above the Ithwiesen.
The Ithwiesen nature reserve is part of one of the largest contiguous grassland areas in the mountains and hills of Lower Saxony. The flower-rich mountain meadows and other little-fertilized areas with typical plant species are particularly valuable. Before the flowers of the plants, however, you will probably first notice something else: the gliders. People have been flying on the Ithwiesen, one of the oldest glider airfields in Germany, since 1930. Fantastic opportunities for slope and thermal flying make the Ith, the "Wasserkuppe of Northern Germany", unique.
Tip along the way: On a trial flight you can explore the Weserbergland from above and gain particularly spectacular impressions.
Tour tip: Holzen hiking car park: "Over the Ith and through Holzen" hiking trail (Hz 1)
