Huys Kaldenbroek
In the old Maas arm between Grubbenvorst and Lottum lies the Huys Kaldenbroek in the nature reserve Kaldenbroek. The building, situated on a small elevation, dates from the middle of the 16th century, but there was already mention of a Huys Kaldenbroek in 1394. Over the centuries it has undergone the necessary renovations and a large part of the canals has been filled in. The building forms a true 'landmark' due to the openness of its surroundings.

Huys Kaldenbroek – Then and now
The Kaldenbroek country house, originally dating from the 14th century, has undergone several renovations over the centuries. In the early years, the building had a classic layout with a forecourt, main building and farm. The whole was surrounded by a moat, some parts of which are still visible. Water birds and frogs can often be spotted at the site of the moat. A fascinating detail is that Huys Kaldenbroek is the most northerly building in the Netherlands with walls (partly) made of marl. In 2006, the Limburgs Landschap Foundation took over the estate and transformed it into a versatile place. Today, the estate houses a holiday home, a detached country house, two private homes and a business space for yoga groups and business meetings.
