The Evangelical Augustinian Monastery in Erfurt is over 700 years old. In 1277, the Augustinian hermits began to build the Augustinian church and monastery complex. Since then, buildings of the monastery were destroyed, rebuilt, converted and renovated. Nevertheless, one can still visit the historic walls and rooms in which once monks prayed, learned high school students and lived orphans. Today, the monastery is used as a meeting and meeting place of the Evangelical Church in central Germany.
