Vallsjö's community barn was built in 1810. The first community barn in Sweden was built at the beginning of the 18th century as a grain storage building. This was a kind of reserve for times of need. At the beginning of the 19th century, the municipal council took over responsibility for the barn. This made it possible to use the grain from the community barn to support poorhouses and the like. After World War II, the barn was used as a military store for furs, boric acid and castor oil. Today, the Sävsjö local history society uses the building as a warehouse.
