The church of San Giovanni Battista is the parish church of Jesolo, in the metropolitan city and patriarchate of Venice; he is the head of the Jesolo - Cavallino Treporti vicariate. The church has dimensions of about 20 x 45 meters, has a height of 19.65 meters, has a Latin cross plan with three naves and is entirely made of bricks. The project was entirely inspired by the ancient city cathedral both in structure and style and in size. The facade of the church has salient features and has a single portal, above which there is a mosaic decorated lunette depicting the Baptist, a white stone rose window with colored glass and blind arches on the sides; under the slopes there are hanging arches [1].

To the right of the building is the imposing and majestic bell tower, about 75 meters high.

The original church and monastery dedicated to St. John the Baptist arose in the territory of Equilio (later Jesolo) at the beginning of the 12th century at the behest of the doge Ordelafo Falier. In the 13th century, the small church of St. John the Baptist probably served as a baptistery for the nearby cathedral of Santa Maria, which no longer exists.

In 1466, the church passed to the Patriarchate of Venice following the suppression of the diocese of Equilio, to which it originally belonged.
