    A wide, comfortable forest path snakes its way between the towering spruce and fir trees. The peace in the forest is just wonderful - apart from far away birdsong there is absolute silence. A special highlight are the different lichens that thrive here in the shade of the trees on the trunks.

      This is the best cycling and hiking trail between Schwärzdorf and Rotheul. As a Kronacher I like to drive this route because it offers a good bypass of the busy, winding and therefore dangerous state road Mitwitz - Haig vor Mostholz.
      After the forest path - from Rotheul - you can crank very nicely further up to Mostholz and then you have the most dangerous part of the state road behind you.
      The way is a little longer, but much nicer and more relaxed.
      You don't have to be a howling Indian to find the way. 😊😊😊
      Openstreetmaps or Komoot do it too. Unfortunately, the Bayern Atlas doesn't like Rotheul and fails miserably here.
      The route Schwärzdorf - Rotheul - Mostholz is well documented in the tour komoot.de/tour/282749473.

        Landmark No. 354
        The landmark is slightly hidden next to the forest path. It was built in 1845 and marks the border between the then Kingdom of Bavaria and the Duchy of Saxony-Meinigen. Therefore, the one side KB and on the other side HM is carved.

          If you are coming from Schwärzdorf from the west, you have to turn left at the end of Schwärzdorf to the Schnitzerswustung. After the Föritzbrücke it goes straight north and left past the first house of the Schnitzers Wustung on an unpaved forest path.
          The path always tends to be slightly uphill.
          Up to the edge of the Rotheul forest you always keep straight ahead in the same direction and don't let yourself be irritated by forest paths that branch off. Shortly before the green belt, the path becomes thinner, but it remains easy to drive. You have to pass a closed barrier and shortly afterwards cross the Kolonnenweg. Then the path gets better and you come out of the forest. A little hut at the edge of the forest can be used for a break after so much successful path searching.
