Full steam ahead over the Furka Pass with the Furka Mountain Railway Steam Train
Your adventure begins in Realp. The train driver lets the steam flow into the cylinders and the train slowly starts moving. Delicate clouds of steam form an impressive contrast to the deep blue summer sky. The locomotive puffs rhythmically towards Oberwald and offers you the opportunity to admire the magical nature outside the train window. On the way, you cross boldly constructed viaducts, drive through narrow winding tunnels, thunder over the famous, removable Steffenbach Bridge and pass flowery alpine meadows. The view of the ice-blue glaciers will take your breath away - simply an unforgettable experience!
June 26, 1982: Scheduled service begins through the Furka Base Tunnel. From now on, the route from Brig to Disentis is largely open to traffic, even in winter.
