The church, made of fieldstone and brick, was probably built in the 13th century.

It has an octagonal choir and is equipped with eight buttresses.

The west tower, which was added around 1300, received its pointed roof in 1657; it is almost 55 meters high

and visible from afar. The eight-sided helmet was re-roofed with copper shingles in 1969.

Three bells hang in the bell tower, the oldest from 1517; the old weather vane from 1695

has since found a place on the organ gallery.

Major structural changes took place around 1840. During the renovation, the altar wall, framed by columns, was decorated with a golden sun at the top.

The Spornitz altar had already received its current appearance in 1822.

The organ was built by Friedrich Albert Daniel Memel (1827-1888) and was installed in 1876 in the organ case, which was a hundred years older.
