The Mulberry Landing Port on Omaha Beach was part of the Allied invasion strategy during the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944. The Mulberry Ports were two artificial harbors built by the Allies to ensure rapid access to troops with supplies and heavy equipment, as there were no suitable natural harbors on the Normandy beaches.

"Mulberry" refers to the artificial, floating harbors used by the Allies during the Normandy landings on June 6, 1944. Since existing French harbors were destroyed or heavily fortified, they developed these temporary facilities to unload troops, vehicles, and supplies "directly on the beaches." There were two Mulberry harbors:

"Mulberry A" at Omaha Beach for US troops

and

"Mulberry B" at Arromanches for British troops.

Each harbor consisted of sunken cargo ships as protective breakwaters, large concrete caissons for wave breaking, and floating pontoons connecting the ships to the beach. Despite storms and combat conditions, the Mulberry harbors enabled the rapid supply of Allied troops and were crucial to the success of Operation Overlord.
