The ruins Ödenturm lies on a protruding paragraph of the Lamberg and dominated the Regen and Chambtal and sealed off the boiler together with the fortifications on the opposite Galgenberg towards Bohemia.

It is believed that to protect the church in Chammünster probably the castle Chameregg has been built and that none other than Emperor Henry the Holy (1002 - 1024) listed the tower and put in to secure his church Chammünster Reisige and Wappner. However, the dangerous neighborhood of the Bohemians made such a protection institution necessary.

The style of the tower does not contradict this assumption, bearing entirely the character of the 11th century.

Our local mountain is the Lamberg 602m with the pilgrimage church to St. Walburga. The main rolling days are the 1st of May and the 20th of July.

The founding of Chammunsters by the monastery of St. Emmeram in Regensburg was in the year 739 by Baiernherzog Oatilo and confirmed by the successor Duke Tassilo III.

The city of Cham takes its name from the Chamb River, which rises in nearby Bohemia and flows through the ancient people's path of the Furthain valley to rain. In 976, Cham is called a city.

On the heights of Galgenberg once stood the Reichsburg. In the 13th century, the new Cham was moved to its current location. In the eventful history, the so-called "Löwlerbund" was founded in Cham. Baron von der Trenck occupied the town and ravaged it, the son of a citizen, Nikolaus Luckner, who later became Marshall of France and to whom the Marseillaise is dedicated.

Today Cham is a trading, school, government and garrison town with over 17000 inhabitants. In the walls of the city, which is more than a millennium old, harmoniously combines old and new times in a confined space.
