Monk’s Dale is like something from a fairytale. The upper section is a moss-covered jumble of rocks and trees. While hard underfoot, it’s extremely atmospheric. It opens up into a typical limestone valley grassland that bursts into a riot of colour in spring as wildflowers blossom. In April and May, the dale erupts into a chorus of birdsong. That said, you’ll find hikes here enjoyable in any season.

Challenging, narrow, rough and gnarly hike over slippery limestone rocks & stones and through patches of scratchy hawthorns. Like horizontal mountaineering, this section of Monk's Dale is the wild sibling of the other Limestone Dales in the area

Like a forgotten valley. Moss covers everything and the water runs really clear here. So beautiful.
