Velké náměstí is located in the center of the historic city of Kroměříž.

The square was founded by Bishop Bruno of Schauenburg of Olomouc in the second half of the 13th century as a marketplace.

In the middle of the square there is a baroque Marian column, which was built after the plague epidemic in 1680.

Next to the plague column we find a fountain from 1655 built as part of the city's water supply system.

The most important building on the square is the town hall. Burgher and chapterhouses with arcades have mostly preserved their early Baroque facades and typically Renaissance appearance to this day. In the arcade we can find restaurants, shops, galleries, but also opportunities to relax and sit comfortably.
