The war cemetery in Mełno near Grudziądz is the resting place of Polish soldiers who died in September 1939 during the Battle of Mełno, as well as Red Army soldiers killed in the battles for Pomerania in 1945. In a mass grave with other soldiers of the Polish Army rests one pilot, 2nd Lt. Urban, who was a pilot of the 141st Fighter Squadron. On September 2nd, he took part in a low-flying attack on a German armoured-engine group in the area of the Gruta-Łasin road. Shot down by anti-aircraft defense, he died in the wreck of his P.11c plane. He was initially buried in a field grave near Rogóźno, from where he was exhumed to Mełno after the war. Capt.
