                    "The Mehrbach rises in the northern Westerwald, north of Werkhausen, near the border between Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia, and flows southward. On its way to the Wied, it first passes through the districts of Werkhausen, Hasselbach, and Forstmehren. Then it forms the border between the municipalities of Ersfeld and Kraam, and runs southwest through the town of Mehren. South of Hirz-Maulsbach to its confluence, the Mehrbach forms the border between the right-bank district of Neuwied and the left-bank district of Altenkirchen, with an interruption near Dasbach. In the Neuwied district, the Mehrbach only touches the municipality of Asbach (Westerwald), with the districts and hamlets of Altenhofen, Niedermühlen, Kapaunsmühle, Diefenau, Altenburg, and Ehrenstein; in the Altenkirchen district, it successively touches the municipalities of Kescheid and Rott. From the hamlet of Dasbach to its confluence with the Wied at Ehrenstein Monastery, the Mehrbach flows through the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park..."
