On the promenade in Nida, several fishermen's houses, Curonian pennants and Curonian boats are exhibited as a kind of open-air museum of fishermen and ethnographic documentation of the culture in the Curonian Lagoon.

Symbolism of the colors of the fishermen's houses usually:
- blue like the sea,
- white like the sand,
- reddish brown like the land.

The Curonian pennant was attached to the top of the mast of a Curonian boat as a wind vane.
It has the following schematic meaning:
1. Symbols of the elemental forces
2. Symbol of faith
3. Symbol of the family
4. Ownership of the Curonian boat
5. Number of helpers
Under parts 3 and 4 there is a wooden sign with the colors of the home port. Under part 5 the pennant flutters. All signs with the location identifiers are horizontal rectangles.

The term Kurenkahn (lit. Kurėnas) refers to several types of boats that were used until the end of the Second World War, primarily on the eponymous Curonian Lagoon in former East Prussia, as fishing boats and also as transport boats (the term is sometimes also applied to corresponding types of boats in the Vistula Lagoon). This collective term is mainly used in recent times - in historical writings or on site they were simply referred to as fishing boats or named by their respective names (Kurren, Keitel and Braddenkahn).
