In the castle itself, only the "ballroom" can be visited. Opening times in summer 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., only the castle ballroom can be visited!
Last admission generally 5:00 p.m., but entry until 4:00 p.m. per adult £17.50 GBP after 4:00 p.m. only £12 GBP per person
Once you are on the grounds, you can stay there for an unlimited amount of time - the garden and park do not close! When you leave, the gate to the castle is locked, but opens at the push of a button (green button on the right column)
It is definitely worth coming later, though, because then it is no longer crowded! The ballroom can be visited in a relaxed manner until 5:00 p.m., the café only serves food until 5:00 p.m. (last order 4:00 p.m.), but is open until 6:00 p.m., as is the beautiful gift shop. We were able to sit outside in the sun in front of the castle café (reopened in July 2024) for a long time, with a direct view of the castle.
So we, along with a few others, had the café, the shop, the stables, the wonderful park and the fantastic garden (kitchen garden) including greenhouses almost to ourselves. Really worth it!
Parking is subject to a fee until 6 p.m., is in front of the bridge over the River Dee, which you cross on foot.
The entire area is barrier-free, electric wheelchairs can be rented as it is very spacious. To protect against vandalism and crime, the entire area is monitored by cameras and sound. Anyone who does not agree with this should think again.
