Ci-En Pagoda on the south shore of the lake is located at 954 m altitude -> here you have a great

View over the lake. The pagoda was built by Shan Kai Shek in honor of his mother. Chiang Kai-shek was a very believing person and the feng shui of the

Sun Moon Lake with the Erlong Mountain prophesied that a great leader

come from here, who is popular with the people and rule Taiwan

becomes. In order to destroy the Feng Shui he left in 1971 in memory of his

Mother build the Cih-en Pagoda. In Feng Shui she put a sword

which is in the back of the dragon (Mt. Erlong). According to the legend

really came a very popular politician from the sun moon lake, made it

but only to the mayor of Taipei because of the ruined Feng Shui.
