Located a short distance from the city of Iglesias, above the hills from which you can see the sea in the distance, the Village was built between the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century by the will of the engineer. Giorgio Asproni near the mine of which Asproni himself had become the owner and in which he would invest the considerable family fortune for the next forty years.
The history of the Village has therefore been closely linked to the history of the mine from the beginning and the life of the Village, in which Asproni did not miss anything and in which he himself lived with his whole family, has been intertwined for decades with the life of his founder, managing to survive him for another 30 years after his death in 1936.
In the autumn of 2020, Dr Lorefice's project and work finally regained momentum through the VIL.MIN.AS Project. (not surprisingly an acronym for Villaggio Minerario Asproni).
By will of his two sisters Graziella and Maria, the company of the same name has taken up his legacy with renewed commitment, enthusiasm and passion, and has started a complex redevelopment project for the entire area.
