The Riesa - Promnitz ferry connects the Riesa city center on the left side of the Elbe with the Zeithain district of Promnitz on the right side of the Elbe. It was first mentioned in the 12th century in connection with a monastery.

In Riesa the ferry stop is not far from the city park and the canoe club. In Promnitz you first have to cross the Elbe dam. A footpath leads to the Promnitz district of the Zeithain municipality.

The ferry runs as needed. Tickets from the Oberelbe Transport Association (VVO) apply.
In the event of technical or low water failures, the Elbe bridge in Riesa, which is located approximately 1 km further downstream, can be used.
