Sheep aren't actually ideal for moorland. Their small hooves sink into the peat, causing problems because their hooves don't wear down sufficiently on the soft ground.
However, large parts of the Oppenwehe moorland are no longer pristine moors, but rather a savannah-like cultural landscape, similar to heathland, created through drainage and peat extraction. This makes conditions more suitable for sheep.
