The Old Bakery is located in a beautifully restored historic building in the old village of Urk, directly across from the Bethel Church in Wijk 4-20. This location combines a charming eatery and a traditional bakery, bringing history, conviviality, and food together in one place.
The bakery is known for its purely artisanal products: bread without E-numbers, spelt bread, oatmeal bread, rye bread, and of course the typical Urker Dikketjes (Urk thickies) – a local delicacy that's a variation on filled cookies, available in small and large sizes.
The café area ("eethuys") serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, prepared with fresh, local ingredients in a warm, atmospheric setting. The menu changes seasonally and offers creative, flavorful dishes featuring our own bakery products.
Start your day right: enjoy a slowly brewed cup of coffee in the morning with a fresh croissant or Urker Dikketjes (Urk thickie), complemented by a delicious slice of homemade bread.
•Lunch or dinner in style: sample a fresh soup of the day or a salad with bread from the bakery, and finish with a sweet pastry or specialty cake.
•Combo experience: combine a visit to the hilly village center of Urk with a break in this historic building – perfect for peace and quiet and delicious food.
