The building is made of brick and limestone blocks.
The church tower, which dates from 1627, survived the earthquake of 1693.
The nave with eight bays of windows and the choir were rebuilt by the local lord after the earthquake in 1723.

The cemetery's surrounding wall contains numerous remains of old graves, some of which are decorated with the symbols of a craftsman and his profession.

The current church replaces an older church (11th century) in the Romanesque style. The name of the architect is unknown. The baptismal font (12th century) from this first church can still be found inside the church.
The construction of the current church began in 1723 and was consecrated to Saint Roch on May 7, 1730 by Bishop Jean-Baptiste Gilis, Bishop of Amizon.

Saint Roch, to whom the church in Soiron is dedicated as patron, was born in the middle of the 14th century in Montpellier, France. He is popularly regarded as the "plague saint" - alongside Saint Sebastian. A characteristic feature of the depiction of Roch in paintings and as a statue is that he usually points to a plague boil on his leg; a dog can also often be seen at his feet, because according to legend, when he was caring for plague victims, he himself became ill with the disease and withdrew into solitude, and the dog provided him with bread every day.

The memorial day of Saint Roch in the calendar of saints is August 16th.
