Valdepeñas de Jaén is a Spanish municipality in the province of Jaén, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. The municipal district, located in the Sierra Sur region, has a population of 3,566 inhabitants (INE 2023).
Geography
The municipality belongs to the Sierra Sur region and is located in the southwest of the province of Jaén. Its surface area is 183 km². The town is located at an altitude of 920 m and 31 km from the provincial capital, Jaén. With a large forest mass, being located inside the Subbetic mountain ranges, it is delimited to the north by the Sierra de la Pandera and to the south by the Sierra de Alta Coloma. It also has magnificent pasture oak forests. The Morenilla mountain range is located south of Valdepeñas de Jaén, from where you can see neighboring towns such as Martos, Alcalá la Real, etc.
