Unfortunately, this place is not given the same attention as comparable ring sanctuaries (Pömmelte, Goseck). The hike there should be made in a season when there is little vegetation. There is no real path.

The Schalkenburg near Quenstedt in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt is a multi-period archaeological site with an almost completely archaeologically examined inner surface. In this area was a Neolithic circular ditch plant, a settlement of the Bernburg culture, as well as a late Bronze Age to older Iron Age and a late Hallstatt period hill settlement. Buried castle excavated.
