On October 27, 1944, a victorious battle against the Germans took place in Biały Ług. The Independent Partisan Unit, formed from the forces of the Home Army, retreating from Warsaw after suppressing the uprising, clashed with them. 850 Polish soldiers defeated a unit of 900 Germans. 140 Wehrmacht soldiers and 8 Home Army soldiers died in the battle
