The former town hall Johannisthal is located on Sterndamm / corner Hoevelstraße. It was built in 1906 for 180,000 marks. The property was donated by the Trützschler heirs.
Until GDR times was here until 1989, the People's Police Inspection Treptow. Today, the Museum Treptow is housed here.

The Johannisthal town hall was built between 1905 and 1906 on the former Königsplatz based on a design by the Charlottenburg sculptor and architect Georg Roensch. This was immortalized in a cornerstone on the northeast corner of the building.
With the incorporation into Greater Berlin in 1920, the original function of the Johannisthal town hall as the administrative seat of the municipality ended. A large part of the tasks were transferred to the Treptow town hall. In the early 1940s, a new police station was built nearby, but the criminal investigation department remained in the town hall building, even after 1945. In addition to the town hall cellar, the basement rooms also housed several police detention cells. Until 1990, the People's Police Inspectorate of the Treptow district was based there alongside departments of the Ministry for State Security (MfS).
After reconstruction in accordance with monument protection regulations, the historic town hall now serves as a socio-cultural centre with a senior citizens' leisure centre, local history museum and event rooms.
