The parish church of St. Mary is the most important building in the city. Built at the end of the 13th century as a Gothic field stone construction, it was expanded and extended in the 14th and 15th centuries with bricks. The interior of the church with the star vault in the nave and cross vault in the aisles is also worth seeing.

The church was built in the 14th century in the early Gothic style. The part of the building made of ashlars with a granite portal is older and dates back to the end of the 13th century. The original furnishings include a baptismal font made of Gotlandic limestone and two wooden figures of the evangelists. The remaining furnishings of the church in the neo-Gothic style come from the 19th century.
