The Maschseequellein Hannover is a listed water pump and filter facilities on the west bank in the south of the Maschsee. Since the artificial Maschsee was over time more and more "contaminated" by debris from the leash, the city built an additional pump house in the Ricklinger Masch. From there, water from 1962 from the Ricklinger Kiesteichen through an 800 -meter-long underground pipe the Maschsee supplied below the water level.

After the founder of “probably the first canoe club in Germany”, the rower Karl Thiele, had already set up a Maschsee Commission in 1904, the Hanoverian municipal council decided in 1932, still in the Weimar Republic, to build the Maschsee with the help of the scheme set up by the Reich government job creation program. After long planning, however, construction was not started until the time of National Socialism.

To fill the artificial lake with water, the architect Schlenstedt designed a system with a pump and filter house in clinker construction. Both houses are connected by a pergola equipped with benches. Towards the Maschsee there is an upstream pool that slopes down in steps, which was enlivened by six small fountains and over which a bridge leads.

For the first time in November 1935, the pumps integrated in the structure raised the water for the Maschsee from the Leine. It first flowed through two drum screens and was - if necessary - also cleaned by an additional filter system before it escaped at the artificial, so-called "Maschseequelle".

The so-called Maschseequelle in Hanover is a listed water pump and filter system facility on the west bank in the south of the Maschsee. The monument at Karl-Thiele-Weg 35 near the Leine is only rarely used today, for example when there is a lack of oxygen in the Maschsee or at festivals such as the Maschsee Festival. A small, park-like flower meadow adjoins the Maschsee spring.

This system was created by 1935 when the Maschsee was being built in order to supply it with water. The Maschsee was a job creation measure planned during the Weimar Republic, which was later sold by the National Socialists with great success as their own idea.
Today, water is pumped into the Maschsee elsewhere and some of the buildings are used by committed Hanoverians for a sports club. The dragon boats, which have their domicile here, are internationally known. The Bridge of Tolerance is a reference to the voluntary tolerance festival based on the motto "All in one boat", which has been taking place here annually for some time.
The area, which has been neglected by the city, has a bit of the charm of a "lost place" and is a beautiful, historic place.
