The Lemmjõe Trail takes you through a landscape that gives the impression of a true wilderness. The narrow path winds through dense, shady forest and small clearings open up again and again, revealing a view of the slowly flowing water. Here, nature shows its original side - mighty, mossy oaks tower into the sky and old, fallen tree trunks remind us that the cycle of life continues undisturbed here.
But this idyll also has its pitfalls: mosquito repellent is a must, because the little pests are numerous. But it is worth persevering to enjoy the peace that can be found away from the hustle and bustle of the world. It hardly matters whether you walk the path clockwise or in the other direction, because there is something new to discover everywhere - be it a hidden beaver lodge or a particularly wild section of the river.
Anyone travelling here should be prepared for a slow-paced tour that is more about experiencing than about reaching a specific destination.
