Amsterdam is known across Europe as an extremely cycle friendly city. So with all of that traffic-free tarmac, it's also a great place to go rollerblading! When you run out of gas, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants to refuel in.

From 1997 onwards, the main station was rebuilt, renovated and the underground (metro) Noord/Zuidlijn (north/south line) was built.
The most famous trains running from Amsterdam Centraal included the luxury trains Riviera-Express, Rheingold, Edelweiss, Étoile du Nord and L’Oiseau bleu, some of which were later converted into TEE trains. Since 2018, the Eurostar has continued this tradition and connects Amsterdam with London-St Pancras. Initially, only the London-Amsterdam direction was offered as a direct connection, but since April 30, 2020, this has also been the case in the opposite direction.
