We were pretty surprised. We had studied the maps beforehand and were of the opinion that it was always nice to walk along the beach. At least that's what it looked like on the map. The coastal cycle path between Bansin and Ückeritz is part of the Berlin - Usedom cycle path. It is a very nice forest path, which leads uphill and downhill, but is still easy to drive.

The route offers a welcome change from the often busy streets and beaches on Usedom and invites you to a relaxing bike ride. However, it does have some unexpected climbs.

Usedom itself is a true paradise for cyclists. The island offers a variety of cycle paths that lead through picturesque landscapes, along the coast and through small villages. There are also many cozy cafes and restaurants where you can take a break and enjoy the local cuisine.

Cycle path along the Usedom Baltic Sea coast

The coastal cycle path runs along the Baltic Sea coast from the seaside resort of Karlshagen to the Baltic Sea resort of Ahlbeck. This is a quiet, comfortable and direct way to reach all of the island's seaside resorts by bike: after the Baltic Sea resort of Karlshagen, cyclists reach the Baltic Sea resorts in the north of the island of Trassenheide and Zinnowitz, then the four Usedom amber resorts of Zempin, Koserow, Kölpinsee/Loddin and Ückeritz, and then through the imperial spas of Bansin, Heringsdorf and Ahlbeck. After crossing the imperial spas, the coastal cycle path leads across the German-Polish border to the part of the western Polish port city of Swinoujscie on Usedom. Trained cyclists can take the Swinoujscie city ferry to the neighboring island of Wollin and explore the cycle paths on Wollin.
