We started and finished at the Landscape Park Duisburg-Nord. A former 180-hectare former steel factory that is so massive that it would take hours to fully explore the area. It’s super impressive. Imagine cycling between old, rusty steel mills and through dark tunnels. Events taken place in former production halls. An old gasometer is home to Europe's largest artificial diving center. The viewpoints from a disused blast furnace allows a views to die for.
It’s a symbiosis of urban nature and industry. Step by step, nature and animals have reclaimed the area. The result: a unique synergy of urban nature and the industrial heritage of the Ruhr region, which the British newspaper "The Guardian" ranked among the ten most beautiful metropolitan oases in the world.
Anyways the place is quit close to the Dutch border so I’d say go out and see for yourself!
