It is the Margaret Chapel, a solidly constructed building that a citizen of Kastel had built in 1984 in memory of his deceased wife.
Hardly any material was valuable enough to do justice to the precious thing that the citizen had lost. The engineer searched the entire Rhine-Main area until he found the material that met his requirements in a quarry near Aschaffenburg. The roof was also to be special, made of folded copper sheeting.
Nine permits were required for the construction, a real thicket of regulations. In his friend, the Frankfurt star architect Helmut Joos, he found an advisor whose profound knowledge finally made the construction of the Margaret Chapel possible. The walls are almost a meter thick, with a steel roof structure on top, covered with panels and roofing felt, clad in copper sheeting.
